One of my favorite sounds after the word treat is Knock, knock at the door… It always means one of two things, either someone is coming to visit me or a special delivery has arrived and it could be for me!
Ahh-wooooooooo… It’s a package for me! The good people over at Monster Pet Supplies sent me two tasty bags of chicken with rice called Duo Delice from Purina. Now my peep told me that my fellow American pups have been chopping down this tasty little mix, but us dogs here in the UK had to wait until now and I really think it was worth the wait.
Duo Delice may be new to the UK, however Purina have been one of the leaders in the field of pet care for over 85 years and they know a thing or two about kibble and dog nutrition! There pro-plan line formulas are scientifically designed to help support immune, digestive and skin and coat systems. So I think I am one lucky pup that I got a chance to review this new product for my fellow UK dogs.
Duo Delice
So What’s So Special about Duo Delice?
Well my wagging friends this is not your ordinary dry kibble…
We’ve got crunchy kibble and tender shredded pieces all mixed together. What’s great is that the shredded pieces encourages me to chew while the crunchy bits act like a toothbrush on my teeth while I’m chomping away. All good in helping me to reduce tartar build up.
The Taste Test
First of all it smells great in the bag and I really wanted to get in there and try it out.

However you know how humans are, they insist on reading the label and demand on using a bowl. I did learn a few things while I was waiting…
Duo Delice has great ingredients
- The first ingredient is Chicken
- It’s rich in fibre
- It’s got optimal levels of protein and fat (help dogs maintain an ideal body condition)
- Vitamin A and linoleic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid (for healthy skin and coat)
Finally, I get to taste the goods! Now usually my peep mixes up my kibble with some of her home cooked dog food, but considering Duo Delice already had tender shredded pieces she decided to give it to me a la carte.
mmmm….Sorry Trina, but Duo Delice is pretty darn tasty just how it is. It’s got a fantastic crunch and a good chew. I gobbled it all! Everything you see in this bowl went right into my belly! Considering my peep was taking photos while I was dining… you’ll see just how much I enjoyed it. Jeez… can’t a dog eat in peace?
So what did I think?
I have to admit, I really liked the mix of the two textures, and it’s much more interesting than your usual dry kibble. My peep noticed that the meat content may be a little low for a highly active dog, it’s listed at 17% and my peep usually likes a mix of at least 20%, however for me it was fine, due to I’m not a working dog, expect writing my blog of course. What my peep liked about the mix:
- It would be a great meal to take on the go.
- It’s really nice to use as a base with my homemade meal
- She loved it when she added a little warm water. It stayed nice and crunchy and the shredded pieces were nice and chewy.
So fellow dogs I’d recommend that you tell your peeps to give it a try. In fact if you go to Monster Pet Supplies you can order a sample or if you order a couple of bags shipping is free. How great is that? Better yet why not enter our giveaway and see if you’re a lucky dog.
