Yup it’s that time of month again it’s the day when my peep makes sure I’m protected from fleas, ticks and biting lice.
As you all know fleas and ticks are a year round problem, and if you’re a dog like me who travels, it’s always very important that I am protected no matter where I am in the world. That’s because ticks might not be a danger to me here, but I sure know when I go to the South of France, the ticks there go crazy for my beagle blood.
Considering I’m a dog who lives for the next tasty treat, I don’t really think about schedules and such, that is what you have peeps for, they are the ones responsible for your schedule. This way you can be your wagging self and dream of the next treat, while your peep does the admin stuff to keep you healthy.
But peeps with their busy schedule can sometimes forget when things are due, even though my peep always remembers my annual check up, due to she schedules that around my birthday so that she never forgets. For my flea treatment she uses a few tricks so that she doesn’t forget that either.
Three Spot On Tips
1. Set An Alarm on Your Mobile PhoneThis is her number one and easiest way she remembers to give me my Frontline treatment. On our android smart phone we use the scheduler, and sets it to reoccurr on the 15th of every month. Then every month she gets a notification on her phone which reminds her that my flea treatment is due. Considering her phone is always with her, it doesn’t matter where we are, she’ll always gets the reminder. This is so easy even I could do this!
2.Check It Off On A CalendarWe have a notice board in the kitchen that has a whole lot of information on it, like important phones number for take-away from our local pizza shop. We also have a list of emergency number, cards and few photos too! This is where we place our Frontline Spot on calendar stickers and on the 15th of each month we remove a sticker once I’ve had my treatment. For us the board is in a location that we walk past all the time and it’s also just above my dinner bowl so its easy not to miss. Another good spot could be posting it on your fridge, that way you’ll be sure to see it.
3. Tie it into a task list that you do every monthMy peep finds it easiest to manage my care if she does all of them on the same day. Ours is the 15th of the month, which is the day we all starting blogging three years ago. It’s easy to do, pick a day that you do other things like maybe the first of the month when you pay bills or your monthly payday.
Besides my flea treatment, she also does a basic health care check which covers:
- My body and Ear Check
- My chompers
- Nail clip and paw pad check

Spot On Bonus Tip
If you do use Frontline Spot On for your flea and tick treatment they have a simple reminder service. Sign up for their treatment reminders and they’ll send you a message to let you know when to reapply it.
So as you can see it’s really easy to remember the healthy basics for your pet. All pets need some type of care, and it’s up to pet owners to make sure we’re protected.
